Charles Gilbert Associates, Inc. is a management-consulting firm to the sewn products industry. Mr. Gilbert is a graduate of Georgia Tech and is a registered Professional Engineer.
Formerly president of Summerour and Associates, Mr. Gilbert has been a consultant to our industry for 39 years.
Mr. Gilbert has served on various committees of the American and Footwear Association including 28 years on the Apparel Research Committee and is a past chairman of this prestigious group. He is a recent past chairman of the Enterprise Competitiveness Council, the merged TAC/SPRC committees. He is also a past chairman of the Supplier Resource Group. He presently serves on the executive committee of the AAFA board and on the board of the Directors of the American Apparel Producers’ Network.
Mr. Gilbert’s firm has worked with over 150 apparel companies in the “Lean Process” by reducing cycle times, improving quality, and generating an employee-friendly, cost-competitive environment in both manufacturing and distribution operations. Over the span of his career, Mr. Gilbert has provided services world wide including all of North America, Central America, The Caribbean, New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Eastern Europe, Africa and Vietnam.
Mr. Gilbert is now serving as a professor at the University of Georgia, where he is teaching courses in Global Sourcing and a survey course in Apparel Manufacturing.
